Why am I posting those ideas and call it Ideapad?

I want to do something when I get retired or if I get layoff. This also help me track my ideas.

Here are some ideas I got recently:

1. Make some WordPress themes following some famous website, such as stackoverflow.com, yahoo.com, etc
2. Make an iPhone app for some difficult test, or some special fun
3. If make some tutorials about design patterns, use a step by step evolution approach to show why those patterns perform better.

Is it good that we have an online friends contact remainder?

When I first went to college, my mother kept telling me that I should start to contact friends from time to time and maintain a large group of friends, since this is important for my future career. Friends should be classified by place and grouped according to closeness in friendship. It can automatically reminded us to contact friends in each group at different times. This online service should be able to provide some templates to send out email or use other approaches.

If there is one, will you use it? I will do it, if I receive more than 20 comments here. It would be totally free and open source.

How can I get more visitors? The answer is always simple: make your website useful to more people.

I’m gonna make some tutorials for my visitors. The first one I do will be: how to make a beautiful resume using Word. (Since Latex is not as good as Word for a resume, it will not be introduced)

There is a very good tool to make screen video online, it’s ScreenToaster. The video can be submitted to Youtube online or downloaded to local machine. What I will do is to put the tutorial on youtube, but also provide download through fotfile.com. This is a terrific idea, if the tutorial is useful for a lot of people.

Is it a good idea to make a PHP open-source exam system? Use it to do any online mock exam, such as SCJP, SCWCD, etc. Make it user-friendly, and let users import questions by using XML, or any other stand files. We can also let user take the test without login and review the questions. Have a terrific domain name such as javascwcd.com, javascjp.com, etc. Put some Advertisement(Google Adsense) there, it should be a great idea. Because the Ads here should be certification related, users normally need those commercial products, and therefore more likely to click Ads.

Please do not misunderstand, I haven’t developed this app. I just put it here to track all those good ideas I have. I would like to share all my ideas, and hope that someone can do it. I will be very glad if someone do that before me.

What if we can make a baby’s photo using his/her parents photos? This would require a lot of imaging processing technology and the intelligence related algorithms. I think it should be a Java Applet, let users upload two photos, put some parameter to determine how much like mother/ father, then produce a baby’s picture.

Here is the very simple implementation of the idea I did using Netbeans. Every components in the form is hard coded and can not changed. However, when it comes to real users, a user may change the number of the pros and cons list.  Here is the link to download this small tool. I just completed the prototype idea, and it just shows how it gets to work. Actually, I think this should be extended to a lot of fancy ideas, such as make it a free iPhone application, or a web page and add some professional psychology idea.

The following is the example program that demonstrate how this idea will work. I’m not sure this is the best way. So if anyone who sees this post can provide any suggestions, I will thank you. Maybe it the idea is improved by anyone, I will give the person an award. We will discuss about that later, but first take a look at the following screen shot.

When people need to make an important decision between two choises, they may make a pros and cons list to compare. I am thinking that if I can make a tool to do that, so when using it, there will be no need to write done those pros and cons. To better aid people, I think it may be a good idea to add numbers to measure the weight.
