The best screen shot tool for browsers

I tried several screen shot plugins for Firefox and conclude that LightShot is the best. It’s simple to use. First click the logo at the status bar. Then drag an area, and then save it or copy it. That’s it.

It’s also available for IE and as a standalone application.

XOOM Review

I just use XOOM to send money to a friend in China. There are a lot of bad reviews about this service. I will update this post, see how it works.

UPDATE:

The testing result is good. My friend got a call the same day and then the second day the money went into his account. By the way, his account is Agricultural Bank of China and I use Paypal to pay for that.

CONCLUSION:

This service is terrific, it’s fast and it’s all online. So I would like to recommend to friends. But be careful about the currency rate.

Free Online File Storage

Hot file might be the best free online file storage.

Unlike rapidshare.com, you can upload files with size up to 400MB each time, and get the link for downloading.

You don’t need to pay for that. And you can also earn money if someone else downloads your files.

Here is a link to register an account: http://hotfile.com/register.html?reff=256592

Latex vs. Word for a resume or CV

Just found that Word is much better than Latex for a resume. So if you are searching for a latex resume template, switch to search “Word resume template”. There will be a lot of professional temple for you from Microsoft official site.

If you are trying to make a resume, and don’t know how to use a temple. Just google “word resume template”, and you will see how easy it is.

This book is just great! The authors are very careful with the explanations and they also made very good illustrations. Each chapter ends with the “Two-minute Drill” section and the exercises. The “Two-minute Drill” has an abstract about the chapter that makes very easy to review forgotten items. The exercises are very well written, and every answer is explained (both wrong and right).

Review of TurboTax

99 percent you should not use this software, if you are non resident alien, such as international students.
Several days ago, I tried TurboTax software. It is pretty cool. The users only need to answer very simple questions, and the software will generate the tax return automatically and produce the appropriate forms. However, one thing need to be careful. It is only good for US residant, international students need to use NR forms. The system doesn’t very clearly shows this, so be careful.

I spend one week to finish this book, this book is not as good as I expected. If you want to learn you can just use Netbeans and there is a lot of tutorials on the website.
