I guess this is the right way to make a tutorial. While there are so many posts out there talking about Spring MVC examples, sample applications or tutorials, there is still a reason to make a new one. This is a good example that can make a difference.
I do not think I can make it better, because it is shown very clear with code example and diagrams. However, I think a even better way is to make flash or video tutorials.
